NORTH OF SCOTLAND CUP WINNERS 24/25!!! 

March 2025
Huge congratulations to our senior boys who won a thrilling match last night against Dingwall Academy, in the North of Scotland Cup Final last night at Clach Park. FT score was 1-1 going through to penalties, which the boys won 4-3, with Ryan Chalmers saving the last penalty to take us to a win. The last time Inverness Royal Academy won this cup was in 1984! Amazing achievement boys!
Basketball Success!
March 2025
Halle Cran (S2) and her team mates, Inverness Lions U14 girls, won the U14 SBC Playoff Championship today at the Caledonia Gladiators Arena in East Kilbride.
It’s been a very successful season for the girls with them claiming the The Scottish Basketball Championship Division One Title last weekend.
Good luck with the SPAR cup!

Our senior boys are through to the final of the North of Scotland Cup after a 6-1 win against Banff Academy yesterday!
The boys controlled the game and played some fantastic football, mostly with 10 men. Thanks to Banff for a good game. The final will be played before the Easter Holidays

Congratulations to Daniel Finnigan (S4) who won silver
in Shot Put at the Scottish Schools Indoor Track & Field Championships last week. His best throw was a whopping 12.20m!๐ฝ

A successful day for our pupils at Gordonstoun for the North of Scotland Cross Country Championships. Pupils showed superb determination and resilience throughout the races in tough slippery conditions. Each pupil contributed brilliantly and did a great job of representing the school. Well done everyone!

Well done to the Inverness Royal Young Sports Leaders who helped out last Wednesday with the Inverness Boccia heats based at Inverness Royal Academy.
They helped with the games and made the event run very smoothly!

Well done to Inverness Royal Academy pupil, Gavin Thomson and the North of Scotland Senior Football Team defeating Glasgow 5-4 in a closely contested game. The boys are now through to the semi-final.

Lachie Bremner (S5) and Tyla Watson (S3) represented the school in the finals of the Scottish Schools Swimming National Championships in Aberdeen on Friday after getting Top 20 qualifying times for their two events, both finished in the top 10 for all their events. Well done!!
Shinty Festival...

Well done to our S1/2 shinty players who took part in a Shinty festival at Charleston Academy.
All pupils played in a great sporting manner backed up by some very impressive individual and team goals, combining 17 goals scored between our two teams!
A big thanks to Katie, and Charleston Academy for organising the event.

Well done to our U15 boys Basketball team last night finishing off phase 1 of the Scottish cup with a 73-61 victory over Dingwall. The team played some excellent basketball particularly on offence where our accurate passing and timely runs into the key proved difficult for the Dingwall defence.
MVP of the game goes to Angus Sharkey scoring almost half of our points as well as some clinical rebounds and passing.
Special mention to coaches Jack and Judah for their hard work over the last couple of weeks undoubtedly making big improvements to the team!

15 year old Freya Soden stepped in to the first team today and went straight in to the starting 11 where she put in a player of the match performance in our win over Westdyke

Daniel Cowan - Roger Hoskins Award for Speechmaking

Daniel Cowan, Vice School Captain, has won the Roger Hoskins Award for Speechmaking!
The event was organised by the Rotary Club, and held at the Craigmonie Hotel on Tuesday evening.
Daniel did an excellent job competing against four other schools (the highest turnout in the last three years). He also put in a lot of hard work preparing and learning his speech, on top of all his school work and other responsibilities.
This is the second time in three years that Inverness Royal Academy has won the award. Thanks to everyone in the English Department who supported Daniel on his way to victory.

The senior boys were back in action yesterday in the 1st round of the North of Scotland Cup, away to Kirkwall Grammar School
The boys were a credit to the school throughout, coming away eventual 5-3 winners in a competitive game

SSAA Road Race

The boys also did really well at the SSAA Road Race. Two top 30 places for Niall MacBean, S1 (27th) & Ruairidh Stirling, S5 (21st). Niall was the only S1 male to represent our school. Well done on your fantastic runs boys! You did us proud!

Our S1 boys had their first competitive football game against Lossiemouth in the North Cup tonight and came out on top. Well done all!
SSAA Road Race Championships!

Amazing results from the Scottish Schools Road Race @ssaaschools. Individual Silver
for Niamh Doorley (S1) and a Team Bronze
for the S1 girls - Niamh, Lexie Macrae, Amy Simpson and Maisie Dillon.
Anna Meek (S3) took 12th in the B girls with Aoibhe Doorley in 75th and there was an excellent battle between our A girls (S6), with Charlotte taking 15th and Katie 16th.
Great to see so many girls representing the school at such a high standard especially during Women and Girls in Sport Week!.
Gold Leadership Award!

Massive congratulations to Thomas Polworth, who received his gold leadership award on Saturday after completing an incredible 500 hours volunteering.
Thomas has played a vital role at Inverness Tennis & Squash Club where he helps out on a weekly basis. Thomas has also helped with camps, sports days and taken part in some leaders training courses.
Well done Thomas. You are a fantastic role model to other young people!

The Team Sports Class with their opponents from Ignatius Park College Australia. In a very competitive game our boys won 2-0. Both goals scored by Ross Bisset and a terrific penalty save by Ryan Chalmers to keep us ahead in the game! Well done boys

Chai Mackenzie (S4) and Rachel Sharp (S6) have been selected to be this years Sport Ambassadors at Inverness Royal Academy. Chai and Rachel already have some great ideas on how to increase sports provision and engagement within the IRA catchment primaries.

Big well done to Hamish Carmichael, S3, who won the Scottish Squash Under 15 Gold Event for the top junior squash players in the country. The tournament was held over Saturday and Sunday in Aberdeen with Hamish winning the final 3 games to 1 against an opponent from Stirling. Wow!
First of the term's leaders hoodies and t-shirts

The first of this terms leaders hoodies and t-shirts for pupils at Inverness Royal Academy.
Massive well done to Kamilla who received her purple hoodie after completing active play leaders training and 50 hours of volunteering. Alyssa who received both her navy and her purple hoodie after completing Disability Sport - Highland awareness training and 50 hours of volunteering. Lauren who received her t-shirt after completing over 10 hours of volunteering and the hoodie is on its way
The girls all recieved their hoodies/t shirts at the BSGI yesterday where they volunteer every Friday to lead lunchtime sports.
Bonus points for anyone who can guess which leader was not enjoying the photoshoot
