Home Economics gives learners grounding in the study of many processes necessary for day to day living.

Learners are encouraged to link an understanding of healthy foods to their nutritional requirements and to show some creativity.

They develop skills in making choices about appropriate, healthy cooking methods and learning practical textile skills. The course builds learners’ confidence in their ability to prepare food and textile items, and offers opportunities to practice the safe use of equipment. It also develops initiative, responsibility, co-operation, and an ability to adapt.

Our department offers three subjects in the National Courses:

  • Hospitality
  • Health and Food Technology
  • Fashion and Textiles

We also present Higher Health and Food Technology.
